Operational Assistance

This Operational Assistance Policy explains how MedAssist247 provides and coordinates assistance services through its Global SOS Centre. This policy should be read alongside the MedAssist247 Membership Terms of Service.

1. Purpose of the Assistance Service

MedAssist247 provides a global coordination service to assist members experiencing illness, injury, or medical emergencies while travelling away from home. The purpose of the service is to:

  • Provide rapid access to coordination support
  • Assess medical and logistical needs
  • Arrange appropriate transport or assistance
  • Facilitate the safe return of members to their home region where appropriate

2. Global SOS Centre

The MedAssist247 Global SOS Centre acts as the central coordination point for all operational cases. The centre is responsible for:

  • Receiving emergency assistance requests
  • Assessing incidents and gathering information
  • Liaising with hospitals and medical professionals
  • Coordinating transport and evacuation services
  • Deploying approved service providers
  • Monitoring the progress of active cases

Members must contact the Global SOS Centre before arranging evacuation or transport services independently.

3. Medical Assessment

Where a medical evacuation or repatriation is requested, MedAssist247 will conduct an assessment which may include:

  • Review of medical reports
  • Consultation with the treating physician
  • Independent medical advice
  • Assessment of transport suitability

All medical transport decisions are made based on clinical advice and operational safety.

4. Transport Decisions

Where evacuation or transport is required, MedAssist247 will determine the most appropriate method. Transport may include:

  • Commercial flight with medical escort
  • Ground ambulance transfer
  • Air ambulance transport
  • Charter aircraft deployment
  • Alternative transport arrangements

Transport selection is determined based on:

  • Medical condition
  • Distance involved
  • Medical equipment requirements
  • Operational availability
  • Safety considerations

5. Approved Provider Network

MedAssist247 coordinates services through a network of approved providers worldwide, including:

  • Air ambulance operators
  • Private ambulance providers
  • Medical escort teams
  • Aviation charter operators
  • Specialist retrieval services

All providers operate independently and remain responsible for their own professional and regulatory obligations.

6. Operational Limitations

MedAssist247 will make reasonable efforts to provide assistance services but cannot guarantee availability in every circumstance. Operational limitations may arise due to:

  • Government travel restrictions
  • Aviation limitations
  • Border closures
  • War or civil unrest
  • Extreme weather conditions
  • Remote or inaccessible locations
  • Local regulatory restrictions

In such circumstances MedAssist247 will seek alternative solutions where possible.

7. Member Cooperation

Members must cooperate with MedAssist247 in order for assistance to be provided effectively. This includes:

  • Providing accurate medical information
  • Following reasonable medical guidance
  • Allowing MedAssist247 to liaise with healthcare providers
  • Providing documentation where required

Failure to cooperate may limit the ability of MedAssist247 to coordinate assistance.

8. Priority of Safety

The safety of the member, medical personnel, and transport crews is always the highest priority. MedAssist247 reserves the right to delay or alter evacuation plans where necessary to protect safety.
